Liverpool are interested in Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade as they look to strengthen their midfield
Liverpool’s long-awaited midfield revamp remains far from complete with just four days to go until they start their Premier League campaign away at Chelsea.
The Reds signed both Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai before the start of pre-season, but have so far been left frustrated in their efforts to strengthen further following the unexpected departures of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson. Left without a senior holding midfielder, Liverpool have since seen three bids rejected by Southampton for Romeo Lavia.
Having also lost the services of James Milner, Naby Keita, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Juventus loanee Arthur Melo at the end of last season, as well as Fabio Carvalho following his loan switch to RB Leipzig, it remains to be seen if the Reds will push ahead with plans to sign a fourth new midfielder this summer.
Put off by Southampton’s £50m asking price for Lavia, despite their repeated efforts to sign the Belgian, it had recently been suggested that Liverpool are also considering alternative targets. Fluminense’s Andre Trindade is one such player, with the Reds holding genuine interest in the Brazil international.
