Chelsea are to start the season off with one hand tied behind their back when Liverpool visit Stamford Bridge on Sunday
Amid all the transfer drama between the two clubs, Liverpool are set to have the upper hand from the off in Sunday’s Premier League opener as injury keeps six Chelsea players on the sidelines.
It would be safe to judge that there has never been a build up to a league match quite like this one, given the roles that two players, the transfer market and an English-record transfer fee have had to play.
Putting all of that transfer poker to one side and purely drawing upon the tactics board, however, bar the returning Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic, Jurgen Klopp should have a clean roster to pick from. The same can’t be said for Mauricio Pochettino, who will have reduced numbers for his first competitive match at the helm in West London.
