Chelsea are ready to make a definitive bid for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo that will not only match, but surpass the British-record deal Liverpool agreed for him.
Friday was a dramatic day in the transfer market. After it emerged Liverpool had seen a record bid accepted by Brighton for Caicedo, he was expected to head to Merseyside for a medical. However, more twists followed when he made it clear to the clubs involved that he only wants to join Chelsea.
Their latest offer was lower than Liverpool’s, though, and Brighton had asked both clubs to make their final offers by midnight on Thursday. But now, Caicedo might be hoping that his current employers will acknowledge his wishes and wait for Chelsea.
Reports went on to indicate that Chelsea are willing to match Liverpool’s £111m offer for Caicedo.
