Where things stand on future of Moises Caicedo as Liverpool and Chelsea compete for transfer of Brighton midfielder
Liverpool are waiting on Chelsea’s next move as their pursuit of Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo reaches a critical point.
The Reds edged ahead in the battle to sign the 21-year-old when they had an offer of around £110million accepted by the Seagulls overnight, surpassing Chelsea’s offer of up to £100m.
The Londoners were front-runners for Caicedo having been in negotiations with Brighton for several weeks, although they had consistently baulked at the asking price with a third bid of £80m rejected last month.
But it is understood Chelsea are being invited to put together another package that will exceed Liverpool’s offer, despite it coming after Brighton’s widely-reported Thursday midnight deadline for bids.
