Liverpool are in a battle with Chelsea for Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo, so we simulated what could happen with the Ecuadorian in the Reds squad.
After renewing their interest in Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo, Liverpool are now in a battle to sign the defensive midfielder for what would be a club record fee.
It was never a secret that Liverpool were in the market for multiple midfielders this summer with a rebuild long overdue, but the unexpected departures of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson have left the Reds understaffed in the middle. Jurgen Klopp no longer has a recognised holding midfielder in the current squad bar 18-year-old Stefan Bajcetic, and after Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister both arrived at Anfield this summer, the Reds’ attention has turned towards a more defensive-minded midfielder.
Liverpool have been chasing Southampton’s Romeo Lavia for some time with multiple bids being rejected, but it seems the Reds have opted to go for Caicedo instead, with a British record fee of £110million being agreed for the 21-year-old.
