Liverpool have had three bids rejected for Southampton’s Romeo Lavia so far this summer
Russell Martin has offered an update on Romeo Lavia’s future after confirming the midfielder won’t start for Southampton this weekend.
Liverpool have had three bids rejected for the Belgium international, with the Saints knocking back their latest offer of £46m on Monday. Since then, they have also rejected a £48m bid from Chelsea for the midfielder.
However, Lavia has been overshadowed in the transfer gossip columns over the past 48 hours by Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo. The Ecuador international also wanted by both Liverpool and Chelsea, with the Reds having a club-record £110m bid accepted by the Seagulls on Friday morning.
A further twist is still expected in such a pursuit, however, with widespread reports claiming the Ecuador international favours a move to Stamford Bridge over Anfield. Either way, whichever club misses out on Caicedo could well turn their attention back to Lavia.
