Liverpool have signed two players during the summer transfer window to date after striking deals for Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai
Liverpool have endured a difficult few days in the transfer market.
The Reds first missed out on Moises Caicedo and also look set to lose Romeo Lavia to Chelsea, in a major blow to Jurgen Klopp’s hopes of strengthening his midfield department.
Latest developments are that Liverpool have now moved to sign Stuttgart’s Wataru Endo, a name that has not once been mentioned as a possible option this summer.
Fellow Premier League sides will also be scrambling to strike deals in the coming days, with the Reds’ rivals each requiring varying types of players. We have rounded up the latest rumours of the Premier League’s big-hitters, below.
Arsenal
Arsenal are willing to sell left-back Kieran Tierney on a permanent deal this summer, it has been stated.
The Scotland international has gradually fallen down the pecking order at the Emirates since the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko and could now be moved on in a bid to find regular playing time.
TEAMtalk mention Newcastle United as ‘long-term admirers’ of the defender, though are said to be struggling to meet the Gunners’ £30m price tag due to FFP regulations. The Magpies would, as a result, prefer a loan deal.
Chelsea
Chelsea could be about to smash another transfer record, just days after beating Liverpool to the signing of Moises Caicedo in a British-record £115m transfer.
The Londoners are in the market for a new goalkeeper after selling former first-choice keeper Edouard Mendy and loaning Kepa Arrizabalaga to Real Madrid in recent days.
Chelsea are claimed to be keen on New England Revolution shot-stopper Djordje Petrovic, as reported by the Daily Express, who is valued at £24m by his current employers. Such a fee would eclipse the highest-paid fee for an MLS player – previously set in 2019 when by Miguel Almiron left Atlanta United for Newcastle.
Manchester United
Harry Maguire’s £30million move to West Ham United has fallen through at the last moment, leaving the centre-back’s future in limbo.
United are prepared to cut their losses on the England international, who joined the Red Devils for an £80m fee during the summer of 2019.
David Moyes’ side had come forward with a bid for the defender, which they saw accepted, though Sky Sports have explained United felt they would have been left with ‘little time’ to source a replacement.
Manchester City
Manchester City are understood to have agreed personal terms with Rennes winger Jeremy Doku, though are facing last-minute competition from West Ham United.
The Belgian winger has long been linked with a move to Liverpool, though it is City who are closing in on the services of the forward.
Foot Mercato explain Rennes would be willing to part ways with the 21-year-old for a figure of at least €50millon (£42m). It is added West Ham are ‘also in the game’ for Doku and could jeopardise City’s deal having already ‘made an offer’.
