Wataru Endo has signed a four-year deal with Liverpool.
Wataru Endo has admitted it is a “dream come true” to sign for Liverpool after penning a four-year deal with the Reds.
The 30-year-old defensive midfielder is Liverpool’s third signing of the summer after the earlier arrivals of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szboszlai, who joined from Brighton & Hove Albion and RB Leipzig respectively.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com after signing on the dotted lines at the AXA Training Centre on Friday afternoon, Endo said: “I’m very happy right now and I’m so excited to join a big club in Liverpool.
“It feels amazing and this is my dream. It’s always [been] a dream to play [in the] Premier League and with one of the biggest clubs in the world. It’s a dream come true for me.”
“It’s going to be the first time for me that I play at Anfield. I can’t wait to play at Anfield in front of Liverpool fans.”
The Japan international arrives after three seasons in the Bundesliga with VfB Stuttgart, with Liverpool swooping for the midfielder after both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia turned down the opportunity to move to Anfield in favour of moving to Chelsea.
And although he will be unavailable for Saturday’s outing against Bournemouth, Endo is likely to slot into the Reds’ midfield for next week’s trip to Newcastle United.
“I play as a No.6 and I’m like a bit more [of a] defensive player,” added Endo. “I think I can help this club defensively and I will have good organisation in the middle. I think that’s my job.
“I am very excited to join this club and I am looking forward to seeing you at Anfield!”
