Germany manager Hansi Flick has previously described Liverpool-bound midfielder Wataru Endo as one of the Bundesliga’s very best.
The Reds are on the verge of completing their third signing of the summer, as they look set to pull off a surprise move for the 30-year-old.
The move will see Endo join Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai as the newest recruits on Merseyside. The midfielder has previously spoken about his dreams of playing in the English top-flight and could achieve that should he pen a deal at Anfield.
Endo had the armband during the most recent FIFA World Cup in Qatar. During the tournament, Japan pulled off one of the great shocks after beating Germany, as well as Spain, that helped them through to the knockout stages.
