Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp gives latest injury and team news ahead of Premier League fixture at home to Bournemouth.
Jurgen Klopp admitted he is unsure whether Wataru Endo will be available for selection for Saturday’s clash against Bournemouth – but confirmed Liverpool will be without Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago Alcantara.
The Reds announced the signing of the 30-year-old VfB Stuttgart captain on Friday morning, with the midfielder signing a four-year deal at Anfield. However, yet to gain a work permit, the Liverpool boss is uncertain whether the Japan international will be cleared for selection in time for this weekend’s return to Anfield.
“Endo is now in, he’s allowed to train this afternoon,” said Klopp, speaking to the media ahead of Saturday’s fixture. “If he’s allowed to participate [in] the game tomorrow, I don’t know. We will see.”
Though the Liverpool boss did confirm that both Bajcetic and Thiago, who have been sidelined since March and April, will be ruled out of this weekend’s fixture.
“I’m told that Stefan Bajcetic is really close but not there yet, we really count on him,” added Klopp. “Thiago Alcantara is in [training], but not there yet.
“So we need to give them time. We cannot rush that. It will look completely different after the international break but until then we have super important games.”
Both players took positive steps in their recovery earlier this month as they returned to full first-team training at the AXA Training. However, unlike Thiago, Bajcetic was not pictured with the rest of the squad in Wednesday afternoon’s session.
