Dominik Szoboszlai made his debut during Saturday’s 3-1 over Bournemouth and came up against a familiar face
Dominik Szoboszlai joked he will use the shirt of Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez to “wipe dust with” after he swapped shirts with his compatriot on Saturday afternoon.
Szoboszlai, who was making his Anfield debut during Saturday’s 3-1 victory over the Cherries, enjoyed a fine outing on home soil as he won a penalty for Mohamed Salah to convert in the first half before his effort from range stung the palms of Neto and allowed Diogo Jota to profit.
However, Saturday also saw the 22-year-old line up against Kerkez for the first time, who made the move to the Vitality Stadium from AZ Alkmaar earlier this summer. Speaking to Hungarian reporters after the game, Szoboszlai revealed he had planned to swap shirts with his fellow compatriot before joking that the defender’s shirt would make for good use at home.
“Yes I did,” replied Szoboszlai when asked if exchanged shirts with Kerkez. “We talked about it before the game. Now I have something to wipe dust with.”
Despite a courageous effort from the Cherries, which saw them take the lead inside five minutes, Liverpool rallied from behind to secure their first victory of the season after goals from Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah and Jota.
