Your Liverpool morning digest as Moises Caicedo suffers disastrous Chelsea debut and Alexis Mac Allister speaks out after red card decision.
Moises Caicedo had a Chelsea debut to forget on Sunday afternoon as he came off the bench to give away a penalty in 3-1 defeat to West Ham.
The £115m record signing was assigned a place on the bench six days after officially snubbing Liverpool for Stamford Bridge. Romeo Lavia also didn’t even make Mauricio Pochettino’s squad after similarly rejecting the Reds last week.
Caicedo was introduced with half an hour to play and his new club trailing 2-1, only to hand the Hammers victory in the dying stages after lunging at Emerson Palmieri in the box.
Reds legend Jamie Carragher and a number of fans across social media proceeded to react to his latest blunder with some blunt verdicts and witty responses.
Alexis Mac Allister has spoken for the first time since his dismissal against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.
The Argentine went in for a raised challenge with the Cherries’ Ryan Christie in the second half of his home debut, subsequently seeing red – a verdict that many have deemed to be harsh.
However Mac Allister chose not to mention the incident outright, expressing gratitude for fulfilling a dream by making his Anfield debut and paying respects to the messages of support he has received.
At this stage it is unknown if the club will formally appeal the on-field decision of referee Thomas Bramall.
