Luis Diaz and Trent Alexander-Arnold were cleared to take part in Liverpool training but Curtis Jones appeared to miss out
Luis Diaz and Trent Alexander-Arnold were both cleared to take part in Liverpool training on Tuesday.
Both players suffered injury scares in Saturday’s 3-1 win against Bournemouth and were brought off as precautionary measures as the Reds won their first home game of the new Premier League season at the weekend.
With Jurgen Klopp’s side set to face Newcastle United at St James’ Park on Sunday afternoon, the news of both being fit enough to play a part in an early training session will be viewed as a hugely positive development.
“[Trent] told me he had a kick which was pretty painful,” Klopp said on Saturday. “But as far as a twist or fall, it was a kick. That’s why we changed then but I hope he will be fine.”
Diaz also received treatment after being withdrawn late on but is fit and ready for selection for Sunday’s game against the team who pipped them to a top-four place last term.
Curtis Jones, however, was not pictured in action after he missed Saturday’s game with an ankle issue. The England Under-21 international was likely still rehabbing the issue ahead of a comeback and Klopp will deliver the latest fitness update in his Friday press conference at the AXA Training Centre.
Elsewhere, new signing Wataru Endo was able to undertake another session with his new team-mates following his sudden switch from Stuttgart for around £16m last week.
The Japan international made his debut for the Reds at the weekend when he was introduced as a second-half substitute following the sending-off of Alexis Mac Allister, who continues to await the decision of an appeal for that red card.
Endo was pictured taking in some tactical advice from Klopp as the 30-year-old gets up to speed in time for the visit to Newcastle at the weekend. With Mac Allister potentially suspended, the former Stuttgart man could have a big role to play in the North East.
Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago Alcantara were not pictured and Klopp will also include the Spanish pair in his latest update when he speaks to the media on Friday at the training base.
