Andre, a midfielder for Fluminense, has acknowledged Liverpool and other teams’ interest in him. Despite being “happy” about it, he is “100 percent focused.
In an effort to bolster their midfield, Liverpool has been following Andre throughout the summer, but so far their efforts have been ineffective.
The club was reportedly unwilling to sell before the end of their season, and earlier this week it was reported that Fluminense had rejected an informal offer in the neighborhood of £25 million.
That would coincide with the English January transfer market, although ESPN Brasil has reported that Liverpool are not interested in moving during the winter.
With just over a week left until the Premier League deadline, which follows the second leg of Fluminense’s Copa Libertadores quarterfinal, it is unclear how the scenario will develop.
Andre, though, said he is “100 percent focused” on his current team as they compete for league and continental honours in a statement to Globo Esporte.
It is clear that receiving proposals is common, he said.
Even more so considering that the team is succeeding, making it through the Copa Libertadores, and is close to the top of the Brasileirao.
“Not only for myself, but I’m sure it reached others as well.
“I welcome any proposals that come in, but right now Fluminense is the only thing on my mind,” she said.
It would have been unexpected if Andre had adopted any other approach given his constant affirmation of his commitment to Fluminense’s pursuit of trophies.
Liverpool might still try to lure the 22-year-old by triggering a £34 million release clause in his contract this summer, but that seems unlikely at this point.
The more likely possibility is that Andre stays with Fluminense and leads the search for silverware for his old club before moving on in January.
