Although Liverpool has not yet witnessed it, Dominik Szoboszlai’s national team coach asserts that his shooting is superior to all but “five players in the last 50 years.”
Szoboszlai has so far shown reluctant to shoot in front of goal in his first matches with Liverpool, passing when a shot could have been a better choice.
The first 1-1 tie against Chelsea featured a chance for a magnificent half-volley, but Diogo Jota’s goal came from a similar attempt in the 3-1 triumph over Bournemouth.
Marco Rossi, the Hungary manager, believes “nobody will complain” if Szoboszlai does begin to fire on sight.
Because I don’t believe anyone can object if Dominik shoots with his right or left foot, Rossi told Ben Bocsak of Liverpool.com, “I think he will need to start shooting more in England.”
When he will decide to shoot, nobody can complain.
“He has many, many strengths. Of course, he had and still has some weaknesses, but he is working hard to reduce and improve.
His shooting is without a doubt his strongest talent.
“I’ve been playing football for more than 50 years, and I can’t think of more than five players in the last 50 years who have a shot like him or are better than him,” the commenter said.
Rossi is only 58 years old, so that may be a bit of an exaggeration, but it is obvious that Szoboszlai has a special talent in front of goal.
His predecessor, Jordan Henderson, scored 33 goals in 492 games for the club, but Liverpool has lacked it recently from the middle.
Rossi might have been alluding to Steven Gerrard, whose quotes are inked on the arm of the new No. 8.
I hope he can continue Steven Gerrard’s early chapters, albeit with different traits,” Rossi added.
But he’ll do a terrific job if he can win over Liverpool supporters in the same manner as Gerrard did.
He can still get better and learn from his teammates and coach, of course.
But if he can escape any physical issues—because injuries in football may arise at any time—I believe we will hear his name spoken a lot more in the coming years.
