If Liverpool wants to sign Fluminense’s Andre Trindade, they may have to wait.
Following Fluminense’s most recent activity, Liverpool’s pursuit of Andre Trindade may have just become more obvious.
Andre had been mentioned recently as a potential successor to fellow Brazilian Fabinho in Jurgen Klopp’s ongoing rebuild, but any prospective trade has been complicated by the fact that his current club is presently in the middle of its 2023 season.
It is clear that the Reds will eventually need another specialized defensive-minded midfielder, but it is also clear that their Brazilian counterparts want to hang onto their talisman. Globo reported earlier this week that Fluminense had rejected a £25.5 million offer, which would have immediately set a club record sale price.
Fluminense’s most recent action may have made Liverpool’s pursuit of Andre Trindade more clear.
In Jurgen Klopp’s continuing renovation, Andre had lately been mooted as a possible replacement for fellow Brazilian Fabinho. However, any potential deal has been delayed by the fact that his current team is currently in the thick of its 2023 season.
The Reds will eventually require a different specialized defensive-minded midfielder, but it is also evident that their Brazilian rivals want to hold on to their star. Fluminense reportedly turned down a £25.5 million offer earlier this week, which would have immediately broken the club’s sale price record.
Their second leg takes place in the early hours of next Friday UK time – which is transfer deadline day for English clubs.
With Fluminense on track to progress to the next round of their Champions League equivalent and time running out to purchase a replacement for Andre, Liverpool may have to wait until January at the earliest to pursue their interest.
