When it comes to Mohamed Salah’s recent transfer rumors, Charlie Adam agrees with Liverpool supporters.
Charlie Adam, a former midfielder for Liverpool, dismissed rumors that Mohamed Salah might leave the team for Saudi Arabia this summer, calling them a distraction strategy before of Sunday’s encounter against Newcastle.
Despite Salah’s agent downplaying such rumors earlier in the summer, reports started to circulate throughout Europe that Al-Ittihad interest had persisted. These accusations were eventually confirmed by The Athletic, which caused some worry among Reds supporters.
However, according to the ECHO, the club has no plans to sell, as evidenced by a response from Jurgen Klopp’s press conference on Friday morning.
Dejan Lovren, a different former Red, quickly dispelled the rumors in a since-deleted Twitter message. Adam is another person who doesn’t buy into the recent rumors. Adam was a member of Kenny Dalglish’s 2011–12 League Cup–winning team before leaving after just one season.
When asked for his view this morning on TalkSPORT, the former Scotland international reiterated the same theory of Liverpool’s supporters.
He said, “I don’t think he will leave. “They are facing Newcastle this weekend, and there is a little bit of the Newcastle problem with Saudi backing.
They’re merely attempting to start the fire before the match and agitate Salah, so maybe that’s something. They are also aware of the topics Jurgen Klopp will be asked about during his press conference today.
I saw rumors claiming that this club was certain they would sign Mo Salah, therefore it’s possible that there are some mind games involved as well. I don’t think it will even come close, and I don’t think Liverpool would sell him.
Salah’s three-year contract extension, which was signed in the summer of 2022, still has two years still to go. When asked if Kylian Mbappe could take the position of the Egyptian, Adam remained a steadfast skeptic.
Is Mbappe the one who can take his place, he questioned? Liverpool won’t be interested in selling Mo Salah, especially during this transfer window, in my opinion.
“It’s going to be very difficult to replace Mo Salah in the English market with a week left, so maybe next season,”I still don’t believe he will go, I think he is happy with Liverpool.
