Liverpool

Liverpool’s striker scores four goals in three games to help the U18s win.

With yet another goal, Jayden Danns’ strong start to the season continued and helped Liverpool’s under-18 team defeat Derby by a score of 2-0.
Liverpool U18s defeated Derby U18s 2-0 in the U18 Premier League on August 26, 2002.
Goals: Danns 6′, Ahmed 42′
Last time out, the U18s had a forgettable game, but coming home, Marc Bridge-Wilkinson’s young team went back to winning ways.
The team that suffered a humiliating loss at Leeds underwent six changes, and Kornel Misciur, one of the seven 16-year-olds in the starting lineup, made his goalkeeping debut.
The Reds faced Derby, who had won and drawn their opening two games, and first-year student Louis Enahoro-Marcus played for the first time.
The visitors, though, quickly found themselves on the backfoot as Danns’ impressive season to date continued with his fourth goal of the campaign.
Trent Kone-Doherty – who returned to the U18s after scoring for the U21s last week – set up the goal with Danns bundling the ball over the line on the second attempt.
At the other end of the pitch, Derby would have been sick of the sight of Misciur after he made one impressive save after another, giving the Reds the foundations to double their lead.
Kieran Morrison was the assist provider for Kareem Ahmed with crafty work on the left flank, ending with a brilliant pull back for Ahmed to convert after a steadying touch.
Early in the second half, Bridge-Wilkinson made adjustments to his team, while Misciur kept responding to Derby’s inquiries as they attempted to get back into the game.
But the young Reds were up to the challenge and held onto their two-goal lead to earn their second victory of the year and return to the winner’s circle.
Misciur; Pitt, Furnell-Gill, Enahoro-Marcus, Gyimah (Airoboma 58′), Trueman (Laffey 58′), Pennington, Morrison; Kone-Doherty, Danns, Ahmed; for Liverpool U18s
No substitutions: Lambie, Morana
