Dominik Szoboszlai has had a fantastic start to his time at Liverpool, and he is already daydreaming of winning trophies.
With a man-of-the-match performance on his Anfield debut against Bournemouth, the Hungarian made a strong first impression and is aiming higher this year.
Szoboszlai stated that he wants to win “everything” at the club and that second place is of very little interest to him in a press conference prior to the Reds’ trip to Newcastle.
“Of course I want to win the Premier League if they ask me whether I want to. The FA Cup and the Europa League are equally important to me, Szoboszlai told the Guardian.
“All that we can accomplish this year. You won’t be asked how it feels to come in second, so I want to win everything.
“I always have that mindset. Even if it’s challenging and there are excellent clubs in the Premier League, we are also excellent thanks to our excellent coach and team. We’re going to give it our all, and my goal is to win.
Szoboszlai joined the team as part of the club’s summer reorganization, which also saw Wataru Endo and Alexis Mac Allister come on board to replace five veteran midfielders who left.
The 22-year-old continued by saying that as they get to know one another in their new surroundings, he and his fellow arrivals have already developed a strong relationship.
He stated, “It is not just up to us to decide how to play; the coach decides how we’re going to play and assemble the team.
“Endo, Macca, and I are all new. Even though Endo has only participated in one game and two training sessions with us, we truly get along great. We’ll get better with time, but we’ll have to wait and see.
As the Reds attempt to stay competitive on all fronts in the wake of a disastrous 2022–23 season, those in the new-look engine do not have the luxury of bedding in time.
Szoboszlai appears to have complete faith in his new colleagues and possesses a winning attitude to go along with it. Come May, let’s hope those goals will be realized!
