Alisson praised the Liverpool team’s attitude following their 2-1 comeback victory at Newcastle, calling it “one of a kind.”
The focus among fans has been on what Liverpool still needs as the transfer window nears its conclusion.
But Jurgen Klopp’s team shown its resiliency against Newcastle on Sunday, rallying from a goal and a man down to win three points late in the game.
During the post-game coverage on Sky Sports, Jamie Carragher urged the team to “really go for it” with additional acquisitions.
But after a summer in which Virgil van Dijk and Klopp were thought to be demanding more in terms of transfers, Alisson issued a warning: “Don’t put words in our mouths.”
After the match against Bournemouth, 30 minutes without Macca demonstrated our strength with 10 men.
“We need to carry that forward with 11 guys, maintain that level, pay attention to every challenge and opportunity, and have a genuine belief that we can accomplish something this year.
“Please don’t put words in our mouths about how we feel about the transfer window given all the gossip that is going on around us.
“We trust in each other and in ourselves.
“We demonstrated that against Newcastle here, in a particularly difficult setting, earning the three points under the circumstances.
“This is something we must employ. If we can apply this going forward right away, that will be even better for us.
Over the years, Liverpool has dominated Newcastle, and at Anfield last year, Fabio Carvalho scored a dramatic late victory for the Reds.
Alisson, though, praised the recent victory as a “one of a kind” evening and thinks it belongs in the pantheon of great performances under Jurgen Klopp.
Even in a game like that, you cannot undervalue Liverpool, he added.
“To be honest, it was incredibly difficult to play against 10 men even when we met them here last season since they had one player sent off.
“You can do so many things on the field when you play as a team; you can even make the field smaller.
