After the transfer window closes, Liverpool plans to review their contract with sporting director Jorg Schmadtke.
.The deal between Liverpool and sporting director Jorg Schmadtke will be reviewed after the transfer market closes this week.
After Julian Ward left his position at the end of the previous season, the 59-year-old Schmadtke was persuaded to come out of retirement to assume the position at Anfield.
Schmadtke, who was known as a famous goalkeeper in his native Germany, furthered his reputation there by serving as a director for Aachen, Hannover, Koln, and Wolfsburg.
However, it’s fair to say that Liverpool’s decision to hire the German was somewhat unexpected when they selected him at the beginning of June to follow Ward, who had worked his way up to the role after serving as Michael Edwards’ assistant.
Schmadtke signed a one-year contract with Liverpool that will be evaluated at the conclusion of this summer’s transfer window. He was suggested to the Reds by Jurgen Klopp’s agent, Marc Kosicke.
The Reds’ manager gushed about his eagerness for the position in an interview with the German publication Welt am Sontagg and said the deal will be carefully examined in September.
A three-month agreement? Schmadtke asserted earlier this month that this was untrue. “We decided to work together for a year and to check in with each other every three months. Together, we take a seat, look each other in the eyes, and determine how to move forward. Does it still make sense or not? is then replied because both sides are so powerful and grave.
