FSG President Mike Gordon gave Pep Lijnders a warm welcome as he arrived in Liverpool.
Pep Lijnders, the assistant manager at Liverpool, has shared the nice offer that FSG President Mike Gordon made to him when he first joined the team.
The Dutchman, who had previously worked at Anfield under Brendan Rodgers and the German before a brief period as NEC manager in his own country, rejoined the Reds in 2018 and assumed a vital position in Jurgen Klopp’s coaching staff.
Since his return, he has contributed significantly to the club’s ability to win every title imaginable thanks to his well-known tactical prowess.
FSG president Gordon is another significant figure working behind the scenes at Anfield. The American manages the football team’s daily operations and gets along well with Klopp and his backroom team.
Lijnders elaborated on his friendship with Gordon in a podcast interview with the Training Ground Guru.
Lijnders said, “I have to say our friendship is incredibly strong because you find out who the actual people are in your life when you go through terrible circumstances. “My dad was seriously ill the first year Jurgen arrived, and Gordon volunteered to arrange for my dad to receive treatment in America.
My dad has been sober for five years now, but at this point, that makes it harder because we never agreed to it and we never had to do it.
Lijnders revealed details of the team’s practice matches while also recalling the changeover from one manager to another in October 2015, saying it was challenging but a necessary period.
