The “unhappy” Ryan Gravenberch of Bayern Munich is thought to be available in Liverpool’s last week of the transfer window.
The Premier League’s transfer window ends on Friday at 11 p.m., but there are still several possibilities for Jurgen Klopp’s Reds.
Liverpool is looking to add another player, and they intend to do it with a “multifunctional” midfielder. Many people also anticipate that a center-back will be on the market.
It appears that Gravenberch, a midfielder for the Netherlands, could be that player.
Gravenberch has been linked with a move to Anfield all summer long; in fact, negotiations between the team and the player’s agents began in April.
However, a decision was put off while the 21-year-old awaited Thomas Tuchel’s clarification over his role. To date this season, he has played nine minutes in three games.
According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, who claims that this has made him “unhappy,” there is now a “feeling” that Liverpool would “push” to sign him.
Bayern is reportedly “waiting for concrete offers,” with a £25 million asking price mentioned during the initial conversation.
Man United is also said to be interested, but Liverpool’s is said to be “hotter,” and Gravenberch himself “expects an offer” from Merseyside. Man United is also said to be interested.
It makes sense that Liverpool would be after Gravenberch because they had been following him for years and had wanted to sign him from Ajax before he decided to join Bayern.
Since he just turned 21 this year, he still qualifies for the Premier League as an under-21 player, which means a spot for a non-homegrown player is still open.
On top of Gravenberch, that would theoretically allow for another signing before Friday at 11 p.m., so another center-back is not out of the question.
However, there are reasonable worries about the type of player Liverpool appears to be pursuing in these last days of the transfer season.
Gravenberch, who seems to be looking for a regular starting position, is not a natural No. 6, so Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai would likely be his rivals.
In addition, Thiago, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, and Stefan Bajcetic are among the actors who play advanced roles under Klopp.
Many had hoped for a defensive midfielder with specialized training, such as Cheick Doucoure of Crystal Palace, but the strategy might be to fill all eight positions and rely on Wataru Endo.
