Al-Ittihad’s pursuit of Mohamed Salah from Liverpool is far from over despite the fact that the Merseysiders turned down a £150 million bid for the Egyptian star on the final day of the transfer window.
Several former Reds stars have found new homes in the Saudi Arabian Pro-League; only this summer, three of them left Anfield for the wealthy Gulf State. Liverpool collected a total £52 million in payments for the sales of Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, while Roberto Firmino left as a free agent after his contract expired.
Sadio Mane now resides in Saudi Arabia, and Steven Gerrard and Robbie Fowler now both manage there, though the latter does so in the Saudi second division.
The possibility of Salah joining them is currently a very contentious issue, and Liverpool finds this to be quite concerning. The biggest name in Arabic football is, without a doubt, the Egyptian king. They are apparently doing everything in their power to bring Salah to Saudi Arabia, with money appearing to be no object in their pursuit of a deal.
To that purpose, Al-Ittihad boosted verbal offers numerous times, starting at £60 million, before making a formal £150 million offer to Liverpool on Friday. The Reds cannot sell, according to Jurgen Klopp, who has encouraged FSG to reject the offer at all costs.
