Liverpool will play a stretch of games over the course of 22 days, with the first international break of the season occurring after only four games and the next one coming after another seven.
The September international break never fails to irritate since it always occurs just a few matchdays into the season, right when club football is getting back into full flow.
Due to their hectic schedules upon their return, Jurgen Klopp will have to rely on the fitness of his 16 senior players.
Before another international break, Liverpool has a stretch of seven games spread across three separate tournaments.
Four of the Reds’ upcoming seven games will be away from home, including travels to Brighton (October 8) and in-form Tottenham (September 30).
Premier League – Wolves (A), September 16
Europa League – LASK – (A) – September 21
Premier League – West Ham (H), September 24
Leicester (H) – September 27 League Cup
Tottenham (A) – 30 September, Premier League
Union Europa League — Saint-Gilloise (H) — October 5
Premier League – Oct. 8 Brighton (A)
After the trip to Brighton, Liverpool will play a game every 3.1 days on average, with every midweek and weekend taken up until the next break.
The Reds will travel to LASK before playing host to West Ham three days later at Anfield. The identical sequence is then followed by Union Saint-Gilloise and Brighton.
League Cup play will also resume this month, with Leicester the visitors, just as they were in 2021–2022, when Liverpool was the host team.
I’m hoping that’s a good sign!
There will be a busy few weeks ahead for Liverpool, and Klopp will hope that he can quickly turn to players like Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ibrahima Konate after their spell in the hospital.
