There were major arrivals and departures during the summer transfer season for Liverpool, but there were also other movements for players who previously called Anfield home.
It’s always interesting to follow player movement across Europe during the transfer window and learn what current Liverpool players are doing.
And a lot of people, notably Gini Wijnaldum and Divock Origi, found new homes over the summer. Only two Reds, who left the team in 2022 and 2021, respectively.
It will be strange to see Origi wearing the No. 27 for someone else after he struggled to find his form at AC Milan. Now, he has returned to the Premier League on loan with Nottingham Forest.
Wijnaldum, 32, never quite found his footing at PSG and, following a loan stint with Roma, he has joined the lengthy list of players who have chosen to transfer to Saudi Arabia.
He reconnected with Jordan Henderson when he joined Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq team.
Who else, though, has changed this summer? Let’s look at it.
Nott’m Forest by Divock Origi (loan)
Al-Ettifaq’s Gini Wijnaldum
Philippe Coutinho is on loan to Al-Duhail.
JK’s Ragnar Klavan Tallinna Kalev
Arthur – Fiorentina Andy Carroll – Amiens (loan)
Philippe Coutinho, who has moved on to play for Al-Duhail in Qatar after leaving Aston Villa in 2018, is still having trouble settling in and finding his form.
Ragnar Klavan, a cult figure in football, dusted off his cleats and lace up for his 22nd season of senior football.
