Tom Werner, owner of Liverpool, attended each of the team’s most recent two games, with Fenway Sports Group presenting a “unified front.”
The Reds are unbeaten so far this year and have won each of their past three games, including victories over LASK and West Ham, by scores of 3-1.
Werner, the chairman of Liverpool and a member of the FSG ownership group together with John W. Henry and Mike Gordon, was present for both of those victories.
Werner saw as Jurgen Klopp’s team rallied from a 1-0 deficit twice, with goals from Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, Mohamed Salah, and Diogo Jota demonstrating the depth of the squad’s attacking options.
But the 73-year-old’s motivation for traveling from Boston to those specific matches remained a mystery, considering Henry’s previous visit at least coincided with the close of the transfer window.
But Werner’s mission, according to David Powell of The Liverpool Echo, was to “connect with senior leadership in person.”
To “demonstrate a united front,” which is FSG’s mission,
According to sources, criticism of FSG from Boston Red Sox and Liverpool fans has “not gone unnoticed,” and there has been a definite decision to deal with this.
Nearly a year has passed since the US owners announced they intended to sell the team, a plan that was later reduced to a partial investment.
In that regard, there hasn’t been much progress, despite frequent predictions from Merseyside journalists that a deal will be reached “soon,” but there has also been a little less pressure on FSG to sell.
According to The Echo, Werner’s discussions with important individuals, including Klopp, might determine “what direction the club go.”
Jorg’s appointment as sporting director is one of two instances of this.
