After his team defeated Leicester 3-1 for the fourth straight victory, Jurgen Klopp had all praise for them.
Here are the manager’s four most important observations following his reflection on his team’s comparatively easy League Cup advancement.
returning from behind
This season, the Reds have a tendency to give up the opening goal, but the manager doesn’t seem overly concerned about it.
Klopp insisted, “It will undoubtedly make the news that we are down 1-0 again, but [it was] a completely different goal to all the others again.
Could we have defended more well in the first seconds? Perhaps, then the last pass was excellent,
“It happened in that way, but it happened, and what matters is how you react to it.”
Superlative performance yields “super signs”
After falling behind 1-0, Liverpool responded forcefully and outshot the opposition 29 times in a commanding performance at Anfield.
In addition to being satisfied with the goals scored, Klopp was also pleased with the opportunities that were created.
Klopp jokingly said, “Absolutely fantastic goals, but the goals we didn’t score were really nice as well.
“[There] were] super signs tonight, I really liked that a lot and the boys really enjoyed playing it.”
seamless beginning in Szobo
The manager claimed that Szoboszlai’s performances gave the impression that he had been a part of the Liverpool midfield for a long time and that he had “forgotten what I thought when he came.”
He continued, “He is a really naturally confident boy. Easiest transition into the squad dressing room wise, stuff like this.
“May it go on forever.”
compliments for the acting captain
When questioned about Curtis Jones’ performance in the hybrid role at right-back against Leicester, Klopp beamed and referred to his midfielder as “skipper.”
The manager admitted that he had told Jones on Tuesday that he would lead the team against the Foxes, and he made light of the fact by saying that he had “sold the right-back idea with the captaincy.”
He went on to say, “The way he executed it was super special, wow.”
