In addition to expressing his desire for a “special” season for himself, Luis Diaz has spoken of the increasing bond he has forged with his fellow South Americans at Anfield.
The winger joined the team in January 2022, and since then, Darwin Nunez and Alexis MacAllister have also joined, with Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson having been a member of the team since 2018.
After a strong start, he unfortunately sustained a knee injury that considerably affected his 2022–23 season. However, he has since recovered, and this season he has already scored three goals.
Diaz described the relationship he has developed with his coworkers and teammates in an interview with the club’s official eMagazine Walk On.
I get along well with all the new guys, but obviously speaking the same language is a huge advantage.
“We all get along really well, so that makes you feel very comfortable, very stable, settled where you are, and very happy at the same time.”
Despite receiving seven red cards in their first seven games of the Premier League season, the Reds have had a strong start.
Diaz is eager to recover from the knee injury that sidelined him for six months of the previous season, and he wants to have a “special” campaign this time around.
“I have a feeling that this season will be particularly memorable for me personally,”
“This season, we have set ourselves the goal of winning every competition we participate in. We aim to make amends for the previous season in every way.
“Let’s hope we can manage to win every trophy up for grabs so we can make it a great season that pleases everyone,” the player said.
