LFC’s average player evaluations against Union SG place Gravenberch in “pole position”

Even if Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Union SG wasn’t exactly a masterpiece, some Reds players stood out.

On Thursday night, Jurgen Klopp’s team continued their Europa League campaign. They were heavy favorites going into the match.
Liverpool maintained their perfect record in Europe this season by winning all three points on Merseyside thanks to goals from Ryan Gravenberch and Diogo Jota.

Here, we contrast our player evaluations with those of the readers of This Is Anfield, WhoScored, the Liverpool Echo, and FotMob.

In his first game for Liverpool, Gravenberch (7.8) has had a promising debut. At Anfield, he was his team’s best player and had the highest average rating.

The Dutchman not only started the scoring by scoring his first goal for his new team, but he also excelled in all areas of the game.
Gravenberch, who is vying for a start at Brighton on Sunday, produced a “very lively opening and maintained that momentum,” according to Ian Doyle of the Echo.

That is undoubtedly the case, according to Mark Delgado of TIA, who says the midfielder has “put himself in pole position to fill the void left by the suspended Curtis Jones.”

Jarell Quansah (7.6), who already appears to be at home in the first team and barely made a mistake all night, came in second in the ratings.
According to FotMob, the 20-year-old for Liverpool had a pass completion rate of 90% and made eight defensive actions and recoveries per game.

Ibrahima Konate (7.4) also had a nice night, and the Frenchman seemed to relish having the role of senior center-back.

Delgado noted that he “showed recovery pace a couple more times against counters” and applauded a “well-timed tackle after the restart.”

In fact, Liverpool’s complete back five received ratings of seven or above, keeping just their second clean sheet of the year.

Wataru Endo had the lowest score of the night (6.3), as the midfielder found it difficult to exert his dominance.
