Virgil van Dijk expressed regret for Liverpool’s mistakes while taking ownership of Brighton’s goal-scoring miscue in a contest when the hosts should have been reduced to ten men.

The captain attempted to pass to Alexis Mac Allister, but the ball went the other way and quickly reached Alisson’s goal, giving Alexis Mac Allister little chance to reclaim control.
Mac Allister is not the only one accountable, of course. Van Dijk acknowledged that he contributed to Sky Sports’ first goal as well.

And so it was that Liverpool won the game thanks to two goals from Mohamed Salah in the space of six minutes in the first half. However, Brighton were in the wrong because according to the rules, Pascal Gross ought to have been sent off for pulling Dominik Szoboszlai back and preventing a clear chance to score goals.
Even while Van Dijk said it was not on his mind constantly, he was “curious” about the fact that Gross had not been booked.
On the field, you are likely to be thinking about this, thus Van Dijk advised caution when speculating whether the player will be dismissed. “I was quite interested in the reason he wasn’t [sent off] or even booked.
