How the behind-the-scenes reunion of Liverpool took place in the AMEX tunnels.
James Milner was unable to play against Liverpool with his new team, Brighton, due to injury, but there was still time for an emotional moment at the Amex.
Milner, who played for eight clubs during the course of his lengthy career, spent the majority of his time at Liverpool, appearing in 332 games over the course of eight seasons there.
He went for Brighton in the summer after winning the hearts of Liverpool supporters, and he could have played the Reds on Sunday.
However, the midfielder’s present muscle issue hindered an on-field reunion due to injury.
Fortunately, there was still time for Milner to embrace several of his former teammates in the AMEX tunnel, which led to a heartfelt exchange.
Before the 2-2 tie, Milner and Virgil van Dijk, who worked together for five years at Liverpool, were photographed kissing.
When Milner and Jordan Henderson left in the summer, the vice-captain and the midfielders’ captaincy were replaced.
Van Dijk took over as captain, and Trent Alexander-Arnold was given the vice-captaincy.
Since joining Brighton in the summer, Milner has started four games, but he has missed five due to injury.
Another former Red, Adam Lallana, is also on Brighton’s starting lineup. He was not utilized in Sunday’s draw.
In 2020, Lallana relocated to the south coast and has since defeated Liverpool. In his six meetings against the Reds after his departure, he has only lost once.
It will be Liverpool’s fourth match without a win when they face the Seagulls once more at the end of the season.
