Only a little more than a month has passed after the transfer market closed, yet talk about Mohamed Salah moving to Saudi Arabia is back.
As the transfer window came to a conclusion, Al-Ittihad of the Saudi Pro League made a record-breaking offer for Salah.
However, despite having Saudi royal family funding, Liverpool refused all approaches, and the player decided to remain, hence the pursuit was futile.
That hasn’t stopped rumors about a potential move to the Middle East, with Salah serving as the ideal spokesperson for their sportswashing endeavor due to his prominence as the most well-known Arab athlete.
The Saudi Pro League’s transfer window merely shut down on September 7, but Michael Emenalo, the league’s director of football, has already begun talking about a change.
“Mo is welcome at any time,” Emenalo said to the German news source TZ.
However, nobody is coerced or compelled to attend.
“We would be delighted to have anyone who would like to join and has the opportunity to work with the releasing club in a very polite and professional manner.
Mo is, however, my particular favorite.
Given his stature and caliber, it is likely that Salah’s “personal favorite” position among Emenalo will be shared by those funding the Saudi Pro League.
To maintain his aspirations of playing at the highest level of football, Liverpool’s No. 11 has frequently been urged that he should stay away from a move to Saudi Arabia.
The likes of Steven Gerrard, Fabinho, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Jordan Henderson are perceived to have severely compromised their standards in favor of financial success.
Emenalo, however, insisted: “I can tell you for sure that many top-tier players who want to join the league are expressing a lot of interest.
“I believe they want to join the Saudi Pro League because it will undoubtedly boost their financial situation. We all aim to achieve this in our life.
“But more than anything, they want to come here because they see the league as it is now and they speak with their friends, the other superstars, and they realize that this is a place where you can come and have fun.
“[It’s a place] where you can come with your family and live a nice, peaceful life, where you can play football in good weather for the majority of the year, and where you are well looked after.”
