Brendan Rodgers’ side continued to dominate at the top of the table over the weekend by seeing off Kilmarnock on home soil.
Tam McManus thinks it was ‘fantastic’ and also added he will, once again, be in the ‘running for Player of the Year’ if he can maintain his performances, as he told PLZ Soccer.
Well, the 25-year-old was nominated for the PFA award during the Treble-winning campaign, so he certainly has it in his locker.
Plus, following his recent contract extension, any possible distractions are now behind him and it’s allowing him to cook and play with freedom.
Reo Hatate’s performances
“I thought Reo Hatate was absolutely superb,” said McManus. “That’s the best I have seen him.
“But he has to play like that all the time. He has to play with that intensity. His goal was fantastic. His feet to get away from the player, then his acceleration and his finish.
“We know he has that in the locker. We know he is a top player.
“But he has been hit and miss for the last 6 months. If he can maintain that performance level, then he will be in the running for Player of the Year again.”
Brendan Rodgers will transform Reo Hatate
The all-action midfielder has that bit of magic in his feet. A player with incredible ball control and flair, he can reach higher heights in his career.
And someone like Rodgers will bring that out of him the more he gets to work with him.
After scoring five and assisting seven in the league last season, Hatate needs to aim for double-figures in both departments this season became he has the quality to do so.
