At the close of the transfer window, Mateusz Musialowski’s plan to leave Liverpool fell through, but he has since “risen” to the occasion after “buying in.“
In the final days of the summer, Musialowski, whose contract expires in 2024, was set to join TSV Hartberg of Austria on a free transfer.
However, a deal collapsed after Liverpool tried to renegotiate a fee, thus the forward was forced to remain in Merseyside.
Since then, the 19-year-old has started seven out of a possible nine games and has contributed four goals and two assists, including goals against senior opponents in Morecambe and Blackpool.
It follows a season in which Musialowski fluctuated between Barry Lewtas’ starting lineup, starting just 13 of his 22 total appearances.
The U21s coach spoke to the Liverpool Echo following a goal and an assist in Tuesday’s EFL Trophy loss to Blackpool to explain how the Pole has finally achieved “real consistency.”
He has been outstanding. Without a doubt, his level of consistency has improved this season, according to Lewtas.
“He now devotes himself to every aspect of the game and is taking more ownership of his overall performance.
He is strong and buys in defensively.
“No one can question his ability to dribble the ball; he can dribble past most,” but he is beginning to play with more consistency.
