Newcastle United’s net spend since PIF-led takeover compared to Aston Villa, Everton and Premier League rivals

The PIF-led takeover of Newcastle United brought a return of hope and ambition to St James Park.

After prolonged negotiations and numerous attempts to cut through red tape, the consortium finally took control of the club on a memorable night in October 2021 as Mike Ashley’s ownership of the Magpies finally came to an end.

The new owners wasted little time in making an impact as former manager Steve Bruce departed and Eddie Howe was named as his successor. Over the following transfer windows, the United hierarchy spent big as the likes of Kieran Trippier, Bruno Guimaraes, Sven Botman, Sandro Tonali and Alexander Isak were brought to Tyneside.

The impact they have made has been beyond the expectations of even the most positive of Magpies supporter as Howe led the side back into the Champions League and to their first major cup final since 1999.

After years of under-investment under Ashley, there was a need for a big spend to boost the depth and quality of the Magpies squad – but how does their net spend compare to their Premier League rivals since the takeover took place
