Ravens defeat Dolphins to secure the top seed in the AFC

Ravens defeat Dolphins to secure the top seed in the AFC thanks to Jackson’s flawless passer rating.

The Baltimore Ravens, led by Lamar Jackson, secured the division crown and the number one seed in the AFC.
Although it is impossible to determine mathematically whether the standout quarterback won MVP honors as well, his supporters made it obvious what they thought.
The Ravens destroyed the Miami Dolphins 56-19 on Sunday, with quarterback Jackson throwing for 321 yards and five touchdowns while being cheered on nonstop. It was Baltimore’s first AFC North championship since Jackson’s MVP award in 2019. It looks like he could be regaining that distinction.
In terms of the passing game, he played a flawless football game, according to head coach John Harbaugh.
The statistical report concurred. Jackson completed 18 of 21 passes without being intercepted. He received a flawless passer rating of 158.3 in the end.
Jackson’s ailments kept him out of the last two Baltimore seasons. Now, though Harbaugh remained reticent on the subject, the Ravens can choose to rest him voluntarily the following week.
The Ravens (13-3) are riding high after winning six straight games and dominating a demanding stretch of December that includes games against the Rams, Jaguars, 49ers, and Dolphins.
“I’m not sure if I’ve ever witnessed a more outstanding effort in a game. Harbaugh, whose team will receive a first-round bye before hosting its postseason opener, said, “I’m not sure I’ve seen a more impressive performance in a season to date.” We clearly still have a lot of work to do. Though we still have a lot of work ahead of us, this football team is experienced.
Miami (11-5) will also make the playoffs, but the AFC East will now be decided by the outcome of the Dolphins vs. Bills game the following weekend. Raheem Mostert, the running back, suffered a knee injury, while receiver Jaylen Waddle, the star of the offense, was sidelined.
The Dolphins now have to deal with another possibly serious injury. With his team down by thirty points, linebacker Bradley Chubb was forced to be carted off.
Tyreek Hill fumbled the ball in the end zone, giving the Dolphins a field goal instead of another score on Miami’s second possession.
In the second quarter, Gus Edwards completed an 89-yard drive with a 1-yard scoring run to give the Ravens a decisive lead. Following another Miami field goal, Jackson connected with Zay Flowers deep and wide open for a 75-yard touchdown to make the score 21–13.
