Draft expert Dane Brugler names QB the Pats should pick at No. 3

Dane Brugler, a draft guru, predicts the QB the Pats should select at No. 3.
With their first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on April 25, the New England Patriots will have an opportunity to steer the franchise in a different path.
The Patriots have the highest selection at No. 3 overall since they selected Drew Bledsoe at No. 1 in 1993.
Thirty-one years later, they find themselves in a same situation—they desperately need a quarterback to help turn around a terrible offense.
Maye of UNC, Jayden Daniels of LSU, and J.J. McCarthy of Michigan are the top three quarterbacks who are probably available for New England, with Caleb Williams of USC almost certainly being the first player off the board.
There is a lot of discussion in the area over the new Patriots regime’s decision on their third-round selection with around two weeks left before draft day.
Who makes the best quarterback?
Is it wiser to trade down?
Dane Brugler, the author of “The Beast” selection guide and NFL selection analyst for The Athletic, answered the quarterback question.                      Maye’s value to the Patriots as the third pick, according to Dane Brugler declared, “Drake Maye has the higher grade from me.” “I comprehend both viewpoints. Drake Maye, really, felt like he had to put on the superman cape and pull things off quite a bit. It was a slight disadvantage for him. And then there’s Jayden Daniels, who deserves praise for his accomplishments this year. 90 plays totaling more than 20 yards. So powerful. The progress he made was really apparent.
Additionally, having the same play caller and circumstances at Arizona State and LSU for two years in a row contributed.
He has two years more experience and is two years older than Drake Maye, therefore that is a factor. In addition, he had four NFL receivers, two of whom were selected in the first round of this year’s draft. Everything has an effect.
It’s challenging to put these two players into perspective, but in the end, I believe they will both be future starters. Furthermore, the objective should not be to select the next Patrick Mahomes when selecting a quarterback in the top five.
Just identify a quarterback that we believe has a chance to finish in the top ten in the NFL. Someone who will enable us to contend for the division and the postseason. You might argue that all three of these elite players this year are capable of doing that, in my opinion. Regarding Maye and Daniels’ mental tenacity to play in New England, where victories might be hard to come by for at least a year or two, Brugler also offered his opinion.
“The older brother theory works well for Drake Maye,” he remarked. “He grew up playing ahead in sports because he wanted to play with his elder brothers, who were all-around athletes. To keep up with them, he had to grow tough early in life. “And then you consider what Jayden Daniels endured while attending Arizona State.
He began his high school career as a true freshman and played all four years. attends Arizona State and makes his debut as a true freshman. In his career, he has also faced numerous obstacles that he had to overcome.
On the surface, it appears that both of these players possess the elements of the mental toughness that is desired in a quarterback.”
To what extent are the Patriots willing to make a deal back?
Which do the Patriots like better, J.J. McCarthy or Drake Maye?
