With a lot of needs on both sides of the ball, the New England Patriots are starting a new chapter in their history.
There’s discussion in NFL circles regarding the organization’s decision to select one of the best quarterbacks in this year’s class with the No. 3 pick in the April NFL Draft, or whether to trade back for additional draft capital and select a quarterback later in the draft or stick with Jacoby Brissett for 2024.
Nevertheless, the Patriots lack a legitimate No. 1 wide receiver who is capable of taking over a game, while having a core of competent pass catchers. As of right now, the team’s top pass catchers until 2024 are Kendrick Bourne, Jalen Reagor, Ju-Ju Smith-Schuster, and KJ Osborn, who they recently signed as a free agency from the Vikings.
It is obvious that the New England Patriots could use a great No. 1 wideout to aid either Brissett or their rookie quarterback, whether it comes through the NFL Draft or free agency.
Tee Higgins and Brandon Aiyuk are two names that instantly spring to mind, and according to one NFL writer, Higgins makes sense for the Patriots.
Alex Kay of Bleacher Report put forward a speculative trade idea with the New England Patriots in a recent piece. Here are the specifics of the trade-in. Bengals receive: No. 34 overall second-round pick in 2024. The Patriots receive Tee Higgins and the No. 214 overall sixth-round pick in 2024.
In other words, the Bengals would essentially be exchanging Higgins for a do-over in exchange for a late-round selection and his huge $21.816 million salary charge.
