Gilmore was a cornerback that the Buffalo Bills drafted and helped make famous, but he was at his best when playing for the New England Patriots under Bill Belichick.
Gilmore is now sharing on social media his memories of playing for the defensive mastermind, giving Belichick a lot of praise while subtly mocking the Bills. After viewing “The Dynasty: New England Patriots,” an Apple TV+ documentary that focused on the team’s Super Bowl run under Belichick, Gilmore spoke up.
One of the biggest victories, as Gilmore remembered, came against an outmatched Bills club.
Triumph in Buffalo
Gilmore claimed that watching the documentary reminded him of Belichick’s defensive prowess, which he thought the show undervalued. One of Gilmore’s favorite memories is the strategy Belichick devised to stop the explosive Los Angeles Rams offense in the 2018 Super Bowl.I recently watched Dynasty. Gilmore described Bill as “the best coach I’ve ever worked with” in a series of posts on X. “Don’t be duped by it. We were a mostly male squad from the start of the 2018 season until we won the Super Bowl, and I’ll never forget it. We went to Zone when we faced the Rams.Gilmore recounted an earlier encounter with the Bills, in which Belichick counseled his group to focus on Buffalo’s quarterback’s shortcomings. As Gilmore noted, Buffalo’s best receiver was shut down as the game came to a close.
nique in Buffalo since I was trailing a big-time receiver and the quarterback couldn’t throw against the wind,” Gilmore wrote on X. “If you’ve ever played corner, you know that using trail technique doesn’t feel nice. I limited the wide receiver to 0 catches.
Gilmore did not identify the quarterback, but it was probably not Josh Allen because Belichick has shown off a strong arm ever since Allen joined the team.
Regarding Allen in his 2018 rookie season, Belichick remarked, “He’s big, he’s fast, he’s got a strong arm, he’s accurate,” via CBS Boston.
Gilmore might have been alluding to Tyrod Taylor, the team’s former starter, who had trouble in a tumultuous 2017 defeat to the Patriots.
