Here are the April 14 Patriots news and notes. We are at the disinformation phase, with the draft in less than two weeks.
To confuse the real draft strategy, agents and certain clubs will knowingly release false information by having someone state, “Player A is now ‘the guy’ when they pick in Round 1.”
It is my sincere belief that certain journalists may slightly distort the facts in their hastily reported stories. I approach many of these huge stories coming out at this point in the draft process with a fair grain of skepticism.
The draft should be this afternoon, please. It will be intriguing to observe how the Patriots handle their first draft as the new front office/coaching staff, though, given the new administration in place. This will feel completely different from what it has since Bill Belichick came over in 2000.
NFL News and Quick Hitters for the Patriots: Ladd McConkey: The Patriots have multiple meetings with the Georgia wide receiver, who they may select with their #34 pick in the upcoming draft.
McConkey was interviewed by Chris Price of The Globe on his podcast. Price is an amazing novelist, writer, and football fan. During the interview, McConkey described to Price the nature of the Patriots’ interviews and some of the questions posed to him.
There are some worthwhile items there. Tom Brady: Brady was asked if he would be interested in returning to the field if a club called in need of a quarterback in an emergency this week when appearing on Vic Blends’ “Deep Cut” podcast.
I have nothing against that,” Brady remarked. “I’m not sure if they will allow me to become an NFL club owner. I will always be physically fit. I have the ability to toss the ball forever.
I’m not sure if they would let me to come in for a short while, like when Michael Jordan returned. However, I wouldn’t be against it.
Today’s starting quarterback for the Patriots, Jacoby Brissett, made a joke on Instagram, writing, “I’m not liking this post.” Patriots 4th & 2 Podcast: In our PatsFans.com podcast from last week, we spoke about the most recent developments out of Foxboro.
I spoke with Derek Havens about the outlook for the secondary and Chuck Fairbanks with former Patriot tight end Russ Francis
