Regarding her first WNBA triple-double, Caitlin Clark made a perfectly dry joke.
Guard Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever put on one of her best all-around individual performances of her early WNBA career on Saturday.
The rising star led the Fever to an 83-78 victory at home against the esteemed New York Liberty squad, scoring 19 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, and dishing out 13 assists.
Her actions cemented her status as the first rookie to ever record a triple-double in a WNBA game and cemented her spot in league history. When asked if she had received any messages from her loved ones following her momentous day, the Iowan replied in a stolid, traditional Midwest manner. “Not at all. “No texts, nothing at all,” Clark joked, drawing chuckles from the reporters on Tuesday afternoon. “Nobody reached out.”
In a game, Clark averages 16.1 points, six rebounds, and 7.4 assists, which is second in the league. Not bad for someone who was competing just three months ago in the NCAA tournament.
If only she could find some pals in her new city of residence…
