“We Just Won the ATP Final, but We Have to Move On from There, There Are Greater Challenges Ahead,” Says Jannik Sinner

Jannik Sinner, fresh off his breakthrough victory at the ATP Finals in Turin, displayed his trademark maturity and focus as he reflected on his triumph and looked ahead to the challenges that lie ahead. Speaking after his commanding 6-2, 6-4 win over American Taylor Fritz in the final, Sinner emphasized that while winning the prestigious season-ending event was a huge milestone in his career, it was only a stepping stone on his journey to even greater achievements.

“It’s an incredible feeling to win here, especially in front of my home crowd,” Sinner told reporters during the post-match press conference. “But as much as I am proud of this achievement, I know this is just one moment in my career. There are always greater challenges ahead. I have to keep working hard and stay focused on improving.”

The 23-year-old Italian’s victory in Turin was a testament to his growing stature in men’s tennis. The win not only marked his first ATP Finals title but also capped off a season that saw him break new ground with consistent performances at the highest level. In 2024, Sinner reached the final of the Miami Open and claimed titles in Montpellier and Rotterdam, but he has made it clear that these successes are only part of a bigger picture.

“Every match is an opportunity to learn, and I believe the more I compete at this level, the more I will be able to handle bigger pressures,” Sinner continued. “I’ve been part of many important matches this year, and I want to keep evolving. The ATP Finals is a big tournament, but there are other goals that I want to achieve in the future. The major tournaments like the Grand Slams are where I want to go even further.”

Sinner’s victory in Turin was a culmination of years of hard work and dedication. However, despite his recent success, he remains grounded and focused on the challenges that await him. One of those challenges is the constant battle to improve and adapt to an ever-evolving sport. “Tennis is always changing,” he explained. “Players are getting stronger, smarter, and more tactical. You have to keep pushing yourself to stay ahead of the game.”

Looking ahead, Sinner’s eyes are firmly set on the biggest prizes in tennis. With his strong baseline game, aggressive shot-making, and mental fortitude, many analysts believe he has all the tools to contend for Grand Slam titles in the near future. However, he is mindful of the fierce competition that exists at the top, particularly from seasoned veterans like Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and emerging stars like Carlos Alcaraz.

“Grand Slams are the ultimate goal for any player,” Sinner acknowledged. “I’ve had good results in them so far, but I know I need to improve my consistency and my ability to handle the pressure over two weeks. That’s where the real challenge lies.”

Sinner’s balanced approach to his success is also evident in his work with his coaching team, where he continues to fine-tune aspects of his game. “We have a clear plan for the future, and while I’m very happy with my progress, I know there is always room for improvement. Every year brings new opportunities, and I want to make the most of them.”

While his victory at the ATP Finals is undoubtedly a significant achievement, Jannik Sinner’s words serve as a reminder of the hunger and determination that continue to drive him. His focus on the bigger picture, combined with his impressive mental resilience and dedication, suggests that Sinner’s journey is far from over — and that the best may yet be to come.
