Blue Jays Win Their Ninth in a Row by Defeating Host White Sox
The Toronto Blue Jays extended their red-hot streak on Monday night, notching their ninth consecutive victory with a 6–3 win over the struggling Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field. The win further solidifies the Blue Jays’ mid-season surge, moving them closer to a playoff position in the American League.
Right-hander José Berríos led the charge from the mound, delivering seven strong innings and allowing just two earned runs. His command kept Chicago’s hitters off balance, while timely defense and bullpen support sealed the deal. The White Sox, plagued by inconsistency and injuries, couldn’t capitalize on a few scoring chances and continue to slide deeper into the AL Central standings.
Offensively, the Blue Jays were led by Bo Bichette, who tallied three hits and drove in a pair of runs. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. added a solo home run in the fifth inning—his 18th of the season—and Daulton Varsho chipped in with a clutch two-out double in the seventh that broke the game open.
Toronto’s win streak, now the longest active in Major League Baseball, has come on the heels of improved pitching and a more disciplined approach at the plate. Manager John Schneider praised his team’s focus and execution, noting, “We’re playing complete baseball—everyone is doing their part.”
The Blue Jays will look to make it ten in a row when they face the White Sox again in game two of the series on Tuesday.
