Caitlin Clark vs. Paige Bueckers Showdown in Dallas Gets Major Announcement on Monday
The much-anticipated WNBA showdown between rookies Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers has officially been moved to a bigger stage. The Dallas Wings announced Monday that their August 1 home game against the Indiana Fever will now be played at the American Airlines Center (AAC), home of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks. The game was originally scheduled for the 7,000-seat College Park Center but has been relocated to accommodate massive fan demand.
The decision follows the June 27 matchup between the two teams, also held at the AAC, which drew over 20,000 fans—a franchise record for the Wings and one of the largest regular-season crowds in WNBA history. That game, branded as “A Night in Dallas,” ended with a Fever victory, 94–86, but was missing one major element: Clark, sidelined with a groin injury. Bueckers, however, dazzled with a 27-point performance, solidifying her rising stardom.
Now, with both rookies expected to be healthy, the August 1 game sets up a marquee head-to-head that could define the new era of the WNBA. Clark is averaging 18.2 points and 8.9 assists, while Bueckers is putting up 18.7 points and leading the league in All-Star votes—a first for a rookie other than Clark.
Fans who already purchased tickets for the original venue will receive refunds, and new tickets for the AAC game go on sale July 11 via Ticketmaster. Season-ticket holders will be relocated to comparable seats in the larger arena.
This game represents more than just two rookies squaring off. It marks a defining moment in the league’s growth and the arrival of a generational rivalry that could shape women’s basketball for years to come.
