Lakers Introduce DeAndre Ayton and Jake LaRavia After Signings
The Los Angeles Lakers officially introduced their newest additions, center DeAndre Ayton and forward Jake LaRavia, in a press conference that signaled the team’s revamped approach heading into the 2025–26 NBA season. Both players expressed excitement about joining the storied franchise and contributing to a roster anchored by stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Ayton, acquired in a sign-and-trade with the Portland Trail Blazers, brings interior dominance, rebounding, and shot-blocking to the Lakers. “This is a fresh start,” Ayton said. “I’m ready to anchor the paint and help this team win at the highest level.”
LaRavia, a promising wing known for his shooting and defensive versatility, joins after a stint with the Memphis Grizzlies. He’s expected to bolster the Lakers’ bench and provide crucial minutes as a 3-and-D option. “It’s surreal,” LaRavia said. “To wear the purple and gold is an honor.”
Lakers GM Rob Pelinka praised the new signings as key pieces in the franchise’s bid for another championship. “We believe DeAndre and Jake complement our core and fit the identity we’re building.”
With training camp approaching, the Lakers’ roster looks deeper and more balanced—raising expectations for a serious playoff run.
