Indiana Fever Guards Lexie Hull, Kelsey Mitchell Talk Win Over Chicago Sky
The Indiana Fever showcased grit and versatility in their 92–70 victory over the Chicago Sky, with guards Lexie Hull and Kelsey Mitchell leading the way in a game defined by resilience and teamwork.
Mitchell, assuming expanded responsibilities amid roster injuries, put on a commanding performance. She tallied 26 points, a season-high eight assists, and committed just one turnover. Her poise in balancing scoring with playmaking drew praise from teammates and coaches alike. “It’s about doing whatever the team needs,” Mitchell said postgame. “Sometimes that means taking the big shot, other times it’s setting up the right play.”
Hull delivered her own standout night with a season-best 17 points, hitting three clutch three-pointers in the fourth quarter to seal the win. She also achieved her 100th career steal, adding defensive grit to her offensive burst. “I think more than anything we’re playing for the girls that can’t be out here,” Hull remarked, referring to the Fever’s injury-depleted roster.
From the opening tip, Indiana played with purpose. Mitchell and forward Aliyah Boston each scored eight points in the first quarter, helping the Fever build early momentum. Sophie Cunningham added a crucial 10-point second quarter, pushing the halftime lead to 48–37. The Sky made brief pushes, but Indiana’s perimeter shooting and disciplined defense prevented any sustained comeback.
The Fever’s bench also contributed, with key defensive stops and timely rebounds keeping Chicago off balance. Boston’s interior presence, coupled with Cunningham’s steady scoring, gave Indiana a balanced attack that the Sky struggled to contain.
Coach Stephanie White commended the group’s mental toughness. “This was a total team effort,” she said. “Everyone stepped up, and that’s what it’s going to take for us to keep pushing forward.”
With the win, Indiana improves its playoff positioning and extends a strong midseason run. Next up, they face the Dallas Wings, aiming to build on the momentum from this decisive victory.
