**Breaking News: Indiana Quarterback Kurtis Rourke to Undergo Surgery for Torn ACL**

In a shocking turn of events, Indiana University quarterback Kurtis Rourke will undergo surgery next week to repair a torn ACL, according to sources close to the team. The injury occurred during practice earlier this week and is expected to sideline Rourke for the remainder of the season. This development raises concerns about the team’s prospects as they prepare for a challenging stretch of Big Ten play.

Rourke, who transferred to Indiana this past offseason from Ohio University, had shown great promise as the Hoosiers’ starting quarterback. After a standout career at Ohio, where he set several school records, Rourke was expected to bring a level of stability and leadership to an Indiana offense that had struggled in recent seasons. His experience and ability to make plays with both his arm and legs had made him one of the most anticipated quarterbacks in the Big Ten this year.

Before the injury, Rourke had already demonstrated flashes of his potential, leading the Hoosiers to a solid start to their season. He had thrown for over 1,000 yards, six touchdowns, and only two interceptions through the first four games, giving Indiana fans hope for a competitive year. His dual-threat ability made him a difficult player for opposing defenses to plan for, and his leadership had begun to earn him respect within the program.

Head coach Tom Allen addressed the situation in a statement released by the team, expressing both disappointment and optimism in the face of adversity.

“We are devastated for Kurtis and his family,” Allen said. “He’s worked incredibly hard to get to this point, and no one deserves this more than him. While this is a tough setback for us as a team, we will rally together and do everything we can to support him as he begins his recovery. Kurtis’ leadership and character will continue to inspire us throughout the remainder of the season.”

The Hoosiers’ medical staff confirmed that Rourke had torn his ACL during a non-contact drill, which, while unfortunate, is a fairly common injury in football. Recovery from ACL surgery typically takes several months, meaning Rourke will likely miss the remainder of the 2025 campaign. However, he is expected to make a full recovery and could be back in action for the 2026 season, depending on his rehab progress.

With Rourke out for the season, Indiana will now turn to backup quarterback **Jack Tuttle** to take the reins under center. Tuttle, a veteran presence with significant experience in the Big Ten, will need to step up in a big way for the Hoosiers to remain competitive. Indiana’s upcoming schedule includes tough matchups against ranked opponents, and the loss of Rourke certainly raises questions about the offense’s ability to continue performing at a high level.

While the Hoosiers face a difficult challenge without their starting quarterback, the team has a history of resilience under Coach Allen. Indiana fans will be hoping that the squad can rally together and put together a strong finish to the season in the face of this heartbreaking injury.

Rourke’s recovery journey will be closely followed by both the Indiana football program and its fanbase. His leadership, on and off the field, will continue to be a beacon of hope as the team pushes forward.
