Updates – Texas QB Quion Ewers has no regrets his brief stay with Ohio State

Quinn Ewers, the starting quarterback for the Texas Longhorns, has expressed no regrets about his brief tenure with the Ohio State Buckeyes. As the Longhorns prepare to face Ohio State in the upcoming College Football Playoff (CFP) semifinal at the Cotton Bowl, Ewers reflected on his journey, emphasizing the valuable experiences gained during his time in Columbus.

Ewers, a highly touted recruit from Southlake, Texas, initially committed to the University of Texas but later decommitted and enrolled at Ohio State in August 2021. His decision to join the Buckeyes was influenced by the opportunity to develop under a successful program and coaching staff. However, with C.J. Stroud firmly established as Ohio State’s starting quarterback, Ewers saw limited playing time, appearing in only two snaps during the 2021 season.

Seeking more substantial playing opportunities and a return to his home state, Ewers transferred to the University of Texas in December 2021. Since joining the Longhorns, he has become a pivotal figure in their offense, leading the team to significant victories and a berth in the CFP semifinals. Despite the challenges and transitions, Ewers maintains a positive perspective on his collegiate journey.

In a recent interview, Ewers stated, “I don’t regret any decision I’ve made on going [to Ohio State].” He expressed respect for Ohio State’s coaching staff and appreciation for the lessons learned during his time there. Ewers acknowledged that his experiences in Columbus contributed to his growth as a player and prepared him for the opportunities at Texas.

As the Longhorns prepare to face the Buckeyes, Ewers remains focused on the upcoming game rather than dwelling on his past association with Ohio State. He emphasized his commitment to the Texas program and his teammates, stating that his primary objective is to lead the Longhorns to victory. Ewers’ familiarity with Ohio State’s defensive schemes could provide an advantage, but he downplayed any personal motivations, reiterating that his focus is on team success.

Ewers’ journey reflects the evolving landscape of college football, where player mobility has increased due to the transfer portal and changes in eligibility rules. His decision to transfer highlights the importance of finding the right fit for personal development and playing opportunities. Ewers’ experience underscores that such moves, when made thoughtfully, can lead to positive outcomes for both the player and the program.

Looking ahead, Ewers is poised to play a crucial role in the CFP semifinal. His performance will be instrumental in determining the Longhorns’ success against a formidable Ohio State team. Regardless of the outcome, Ewers’ journey from a top recruit to a starting quarterback in the CFP exemplifies resilience and adaptability.

In summary, Quinn Ewers’ reflections on his time at Ohio State reveal a mature perspective on his collegiate career. His lack of regret and appreciation for the experiences gained demonstrate a forward-looking mindset, focused on leveraging past lessons to achieve future success with the Texas Longhorns.
