Jazz Chisholm is Doing His Part to Keep the Offense Afloat
As the Miami Marlins struggle to find consistent footing in the 2025 season, one bright spot continues to shine through the adversity: Jazz Chisholm Jr. The 26-year-old center fielder has emerged not only as an energetic spark plug on the field but also as one of the team’s most reliable offensive weapons.
Despite Miami’s ongoing offensive woes and injury troubles, Chisholm has managed to keep producing at the plate. Through the first half of the season, he’s slashing .278/.343/.472 with 12 home runs, 17 stolen bases, and a team-leading 42 RBIs. While those numbers might not scream MVP, they are a lifeline for a team currently ranking near the bottom of the National League in most offensive categories.
“He’s doing everything we could ask for,” manager Skip Schumaker said. “Jazz brings energy, effort, and consistency, and right now, we need that more than ever.”
The Marlins have suffered from a lack of depth, particularly with key players like Luis Arraez and Bryan De La Cruz spending time on the injured list. That’s left Chisholm not only carrying more weight on offense but also stepping into a leadership role — something he’s embraced.
“I know I can do more, and I want to be that guy for this team,” Chisholm said after a recent win. “I want the pressure. I want the responsibility.”
Defensively, Chisholm has continued to improve in center field — a position he took on last season with no prior big-league experience. His athleticism and instincts have helped him grow into the role, and his versatility has been a major asset.
If the Marlins are going to stay competitive as the trade deadline approaches, they’ll need more than just Chisholm to step up. But for now, he’s keeping the offense alive — one big swing, one daring steal, and one electric play at a time.
